Week 35 of My Project 52 Photography Challenge: Emote

It took me a while to come up with an idea for an image for week 35 of my Project 52 Photography Challenge. The theme was “Emote” and to be honest, I *really* didn’t want to take an image of a person. Over the course of this challenge, I feel like I’ve leaned on my love of photographing people too much and I really wanted to challenge myself. This is a challenge after all, right?

For those of you that don’t know, “Emote” means to show or portray emotion. I thought long and hard about how I would photograph “emote” without photographing a person and then I remembered something special, that is tucked in the bottom of my jewelry box. For years, it lived in my pillow case- being taken out every week, when I did the wash, only to be placed back in the pillow case again. After a while, it began to show its age, and I decided it would be better kept safely in the jewelry box. However, with it so safely tucked away, it is easy for me to forget these two very important pieces of paper.

These two pieces of paper contain the words my husband wrote, in the one and only love letter he ever gave me. He emoted all of his feelings of love, in blue ink on some ruled notebook paper, and this one letter forever changed the course of our lives.

Now, here we are, 15 years later- even more happy and twice as in love as we were the day he gave me this letter. As we come up on 12 years of marriage this month, I can’t help but be so grateful for the life we have together. We are blessed beyond measure and I can’t wait to see what the next 15 years has in store for us.
