Week 33 of My Project 52 Photography Challenge: People
Week 33 of My Project 52 Photography Challenge: People
It would figure that the week my Project 52 Photography Challenge assignment is “People”, would be the week that we were camping. This year, our family took our first “real” camping trip. We went to one of my favorite camping spots as a kid, and we chose this particular campground because I always remember having tons of other kids to play with. Since Simon is our only child, I wanted him to be able to make friends with the kids at the neighboring campsites and have fun riding his bike and catching minnows, like I did when I was growing up.
So, last Tuesday, we packed up our things and headed off to Rocky Gap State Park, for our first family camping trip. Little did I know that we would be one of two campers in the entire loop! As great as it was to have so much privacy and quiet while camping, I was a little bummed that Simon didn’t have any other kids to play with, and I wasn’t going to have many people to photograph.
Not to mention- it poured.
But, the Smuteks weren’t about to let an insane amount a little rain get us down. Mommy & Daddy both had fun playing in the rain with our mini camper, and I got to photograph my favorite people, having the time of their lives, with each other. This summer was filled with so much fun and activity and I was initially so bummed when I saw the weather forecast for our camping trip. But you know what?, the time we spent playing in the rain, and sitting together on the porch to stay dry, was easily some of my favorite moments this summer. I love these two people so much.
We had so much fun on our little camping trip, to Rocky Gap State Park, and I can’t wait to share more with you, later this week!

September 3, 2015Bet that will be a trip and memory that Simon will remember forever! I still remember running with no shoes on along the curbs in the rain when I was a little girl… Love me some rain!
