Week 31 of My Project 52 Photography Challenge: Adventure
Week 31 of My Project 52 Photography Challenge: Adventure
Those of you that know me well, know that I am NOT a ‘sit at home’ kind of girl. This is especially true since I started working mostly from home 3 years ago, and once I am done working for the day, I’m usually itching for a change of scenery. Toss in a rambunctious 5-year-old (who literally tries to climb the walls), and you have a person who tries to be away from the house as much as absolutely possible! Over the last 3 years, I’ve made it a point to almost always have some sort of adventure planned for the two of us. Between trips to the Aquarium, the local playground, Pierces’ Park, Fort Howard, Urban Pirate Cruises, fairs, Marshy Point, and different museums, restaurants and beaches, it seems that we are always out on a little adventure- filling our days with non-stop fun. Since we are a “one and done” family, I’m really trying to soak up these early years with Simon and enjoy every minute. I know that once they are gone, they are gone; and goodness knows, he is growing too quickly.
I’ve been packing in the adventure as much as possible this summer, especially, since these last few weeks of summer are also my last few weeks of “baby Simon”. In just 3.5 weeks, this guy goes off to kindergarten. KINDERGARTEN. Crazy… full day school, from here on out. It’s hard to believe that our seemingly endless Mommy-Simon days are actually coming to an end and I feel like I want to do as much as possible with him.
However, it was after a busy morning of running errands and being out and about, Simon wanted to just go outside and play basketball. And, that’s when he found the hose. 40 mins later, a large puddle of mud and a completely soaked mommy & Simon, I think we experienced the most fun he’s had all summer.
I’m thinking that these last few weeks of summer, I may actually try to slow it down. We don’t need to be out and about to find adventure. When you’re five, the backyard, a garden hose & some dirt are all you need to have the adventure of a lifetime.

August 5, 2015I LOVE this. How did Simon become a kindergartener already? That’s not okay. He needs to slow down on that growing up thing BIG time. I want to join one of your adventure days!
