Week 15 of my Project 52 Photography Challenge: Tiny
Week 15 of my Project 52 Photography Challenge: Tiny
Week 15’s project 52 photography challenge theme was “Tiny”. This here, is a tiny, little frog with a magnet on the bottom of its feet. It is pretty tiny, about the size of my fingernail, but it holds so many memories. You see, this frog was once part of a set of frog magnets, that clung to my grandmother’s refrigerator, for as long as I can remember. Over the years, my cousins, sister and I would play with the frogs, when we would visit; and, one by one, they disappeared. All except this one tiny frog.
As I grew older, so did my grandmother. Eventually, she was moved into an assisted living center and the majority of her belongings were divided among family. Most of my family, understandably, wanted pieces of furniture or jewelry. Not me, I just wanted this tiny, little frog. And so, I took him home and he clung to my fridge for quite a few years, until one day, he went missing. I was devastated. I searched high and low for this tiny fellow, but to no avail.
When we moved, a few years later, I went so far as to move each appliance in the kitchen and open the floor vents… but nothing. Sadly, I had to move without him. It wasn’t until about 3 years later, I unpacked a box and found this tiny, little guy, clinging to a lantern that my Grandmother’s brother had built when she was just a girl. Go figure.
So now he clings to my desk, where I can see him every day and remember my times with my Grandma- playing with the tiny frogs on her fridge, while she made dinner. He might just be a tiny little frog, but he takes up a big space in my heart!

April 30, 2015So sweet. I love the story behind this little guy. I have some sentimental pieces from my grandma’s house that I would be pretty sad to lose, so I understand wanting to move all the appliances to find this froggie. I’m so glad you have it and that it is safe and sound now.

April 30, 2015Now I’m all teary-eyed. What a sweet story and I can only imagine the way your heart must have felt when you found the little guy on the lantern. Such small and random things can mean the world. Today marks 4 years since I lost my Grandmaw so the fact that this was your post today is so very fitting :)
