  1. We want to book with you, how do we make that happen?

    Once you’re ready to book, it’s a super-easy, 3-step process…

    1. Sign your contract;

    2. Submit your non-refundable retainer (via check, bank-draft or credit card);

    3. Check “book photographer” off of your to-do list.

Once I have your signed contract and retainer in-hand, you will be officially booked! Yippee! I’ll also keep all of your documents organized for you, in your client portal, so that you’ll always have access to everything you need. Your final payment won’t be due until 30 days before your wedding.

  2. We know we want to book you, but we don’t know the specifics just yet.

No worries at all! I know that it is almost feels impossible to make these decisions so far out, so we can totally get you booked without having to nail down the specifics, just yet. All the way up until your wedding day, we can add or subtract whatever you may need- more hours, albums, etc. There’s no rush. I’m flexible like that.

  3. Do you offer engagement sessions?

You bet I do, and I highly recommend one! An engagement session is a great way for us to get to know each other before your big day. Plus, it also gives you the opportunity to get comfortable in front of a camera and have some snazzy photos of you in your regular clothes! Think of it as a fun trial-run before your wedding day, with an awesome keepsake. Weddings with at least 7 hours of coverage include a complimentary engagement session.

  4. What should we wear on our engagement session?

Coming up with the perfect outfit (or three) can be a difficult task. That’s why I’ve written this blog post to help you out!

  5. What about black & white vs. color photography?

All of the images that are taken at your wedding will be captured in color. Then, I will consider which ones will best lend themselves to black & white. We can discuss your preferences for black & white vs. color photography, and incorporate a balance that works for you.

  6. What if some of your equipment stops working on our wedding day?

Don’t you worry; I have backup equipment. You can rest assured that I will come to your wedding, fully equipped with ample camera bodies, lenses, flashes and the other necessities needed to provide you with the best photographic experience! Even both of my camera bodies back up your images, onto two cards, while I’m shooting.

And, you don’t have to worry about after your wedding day, either. I have an extensive back-up system for all of my images- both in house and off-site. Trust me, you’re covered.

  7. Do you provide an option for a second photographer?

Absolutely! Having a second photographer is especially beneficial if your wedding day has multiple locations or if you really want to make sure that every possible angle is captured.

Of course, if you don’t have a second shooter, I will be sure to bring an extra set of hands to help with dress fluffing, water fetching & gear holding. I want to make sure that I can focus on capturing moments, rather than fumbling with gear.

If you’re unsure if a second photographer is needed for your wedding day, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to help you decide what is best for your specific wedding; and, either way, you can be sure that I’ll have a great team there for you!

  8. How many images will we receive and how soon will we be able to see our photos?

Depending on the amount of coverage you choose for your wedding day, you can expect to receive roughly 50  lightly-retouched images, per photographable hour, in an online gallery within 4 weeks of your wedding day. Of course, within a week or two of your wedding, I’ll post a blog of my favorite images, to hold you over until your final gallery is ready.

  9. Will we receive high-resolution files?

Of course! All of my wedding collections include access to the high-resolution images from your final image gallery. Each image will be lightly edited for proper color correction & exposure. And, of course, additional retouching is available, upon request, at an hourly rate.

  10. Do you photograph same-gender weddings?

Absolutely! I love photographing all couples who have chosen to make a commitment to each other.

  11. We are on a tight budget; do you offer discounts?

As you can imagine, I take a lot of pride in my work and, as such, I strive to provide each of my clients with a wonderful wedding experience. For this reason, I have priced my services to give you the absolute best experience and quality possible.

  12. Do you offer wedding albums?

You bet I do! And, quite frankly, I can’t think of a better way to display and keep your wedding images. You can read more about the importance of getting a wedding album here.

I personally design each album, to tell the story of your wedding day. Each album includes 15-20 beautiful, panoramic photo spreads, flush-mounted on thick, archival pages. There are several cover options to choose from, and additional spreads and parent albums are also available!

Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you would like to view some samples. Won’t it be great to not have to log into Facebook to show the grandkids your wedding photos?

  13. Will you travel?

Heck yes, I will! I’ve traveled close to home… from the Eastern Shore to Pennsylvania, and as far away as Key West, Florida, & Maui, Hawaii… not to mention many places in-between. I love traveling for my couples! Of course, with weddings outside of the Baltimore/Annapolis/DC area, some travel fees may apply. If you are considering a destination wedding, please contact me for specific rates and travel fees.

  14. Do you photograph proposals?

Absolutely! Proposal photography is $850 and includes the actual proposal, as well as a 30 minute mini-session immediately following your proposal. You will also receive a download of the final high-resolution images, as well as an online viewing and sharing gallery.

  15. How long have you been photographing weddings?

I started photographing weddings in 2001, under the guidance of several seasoned professionals. In 2007, I decided to branch out on my own, and established Jennifer Smutek Photography. I love what I do!

  16. Are you insured?

You bet! I have both liability and equipment insurance, and it is highly suggested that you only consider hiring wedding professionals who are properly insured. In fact, many venues require all of your vendors to have adequate insurance (and I can totally provide that to them, if needed). Be sure to check with all of your vendors, to make sure they are properly licensed and insured.

  17. Do you still have dates open for 2023?

I always want to provide my clients with the highest quality of service and an amazing wedding experience. For this reason, I limit the number of weddings that I will take on each year, so that I can ensure every couple gets my best. At this point in time, I have a limited number of dates available for 2023.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out, to see if your date is still available.

I am currently booking for the 2023 & 2024 wedding seasons.

  18. Why should we hire a professional?

Well, just remember that after the food is gone, the flowers have wilted and that white dress is stored in a box somewhere, all that you will have left to remember your day are your photographs. It is your big day… entrust it to a professional!
