Throwback Thursday | Stopping to Smell the Flowers
This week is American Education Week, and as such, I had the chance to visit my little man at school yesterday. It was so awesome to see our little dude with his friends at school and receiving awards on stage at the assembly. (Yes, yes, that’s right folks, our little guy knows his shapes AND his colors… so he received, not one but, TWO awards! Go Simon!) Anyway, seeing him stand there, on stage, really got to me… at age 3, he is just so, so tiny. I mean, he was practically swallowed up by the stage. And yet, at the same time, he is so big! He sat quietly with his classmates, walked up on stage when called and just seemed, well, so mature! How can my tiny little baby be growing so fast?
You always hear things like “time sure does fly”, “they grow up so fast”, and “enjoy every second” and, you know what?, it really is true. It seems like just yesterday I felt him kicking inside me. As the old adage goes, you really do need to take time to stop and smell the flowers. Enjoy every second of your family and your little ones, because time passes quickly and they do, indeed, grow so fast.
So, today’s Throwback Thursday is dedicated to Simon and how I sometimes wish that time would stand still… that he could be little and in my arms forever. But, I know that we have many more awesome adventures ahead; so, I have to remind myself to take the time to stop and smell every flower along the way with him. Because before you know it, he will be walking across the stage at some University somewhere.
Here is 10 month old Simon, wise beyond his nearly-year, stopping to smell the flowers…
