Shannon and Dustin: an End of Summer Wedding…

Posted on Sep 28, 2008 in Weddings | One Comment

Last weekend, on September 20th, I had the pleasure of spending my own wedding anniversary shooting Shannon and Dustin’s wedding in beautiful, downtown Annapolis, Maryland. The weather was amazing and it was the end-of-summer event of the year!

One of the things that I love most about shooting weddings is all of the great people that I get to meet. It was clear from the first time that I met Shannon and Dustin that I was really going to enjoy working with them. We had a blast during their engagement shoot, but that was nothing compared to the fun we had at their wedding. What a fantastic couple with such awesome families.

The day started with a relaxing morning at Shannon’s parents, getting ready for the day ahead…

Then, it was off to a friend of the family’s house to take some pre-ceremony photos…

Shannon and her sisters were so serious the whole time, it was a challenge to get them to crack a smile…

Then it was off to the church, St. Andrews By The Bay, in Annapolis, Maryland.

Because I shoot every wedding with an assisting photographer, it is like I am able to be in two places at once. I grabbed this shot of Dustin seeing Shannon for the first time…

…While my assistant was getting this shot of Shannon walking down the isle with her dad.

I love capturing all of the emotions at weddings…

Taking advantage of St. Andrew’s natural light…

Just pronounced husband and wife. Quite possibly my favorite wedding photo of all time…

After the ceremony, the newlyweds received lots of warm wishes from loved ones…

Shannon is a school teacher and she couldn’t help but invite her classes. These are the sweetest children, I think that they were just as excited as Shannon about the wedding…

Then, it was off to the reception aboard Pintail Yachts in downtown Annapolis. Such a beautiful venue with super friendly staff…

First dance as husband and wife…

There is something to be said about having a live band at a wedding. The Dan Haas Band had the crowd going all night. These guys were fantastic!

A wedding is not just the celebration of two people coming together as one, but of two entire families. There is no better representation of this than the joy and togetherness that I witnessed at Shannon and Dustin’s wedding. I soon forgot who was on the bride’s side or the groom’s side. I was there to photograph one family…

Shannon and Dustin… thank you so much for inviting me to shoot your wedding. The day was perfect and I suspect that the two of you, and your family, will have many, many wonderful years together.
