Ed & Alec | Federal Hill Couples’ Photography Session
Ed & Alec | Federal Hill Couples’ Photography Session
I was connected with Ed and Alec through a mutual friend, and I am just thrilled to have met these two! As it turns out, Ed & Alec had never had professional photos taken of them… not even at their wedding. So, it only seemed fitting that we team up for a couples’ session in Baltimore’s Federal Hill.
These two guys basically radiate awesome- They travel together, they inspire each other, they create together and more than anything, they laugh together. Their entire session was filled with endless laughter and smiles. I loved seeing how these Alec & Ed interacted with each other and it is obvious that they are totally in sync with each other. They are simply the perfect match.
We started their session just outside of the AVAM, where they quickly subscribed to my “brand of crazy” (as it has been so affectionally put).
These two…
Towards the end of their session, Ed mentioned that Alec had gotten him a Pixelstick for Christmas. I had never heard of a Pixelstick, so when they described it to me, I was definitely intrigued! We decided to move the rest of their session closer to home, so that we could team up and collaborate in experimenting with the Pixelstick. We got so excited with the idea, that we maybe, accidentally, missed the sunset. Sad.
This first image was made with my Magmod system, while we waited for the sun to go completely down.
Once as much of ambient light as possible was gone, we set off with experimenting. Here, I’m working the camera and the OCF while Alec is testing out running with the Pixelstick behind Ed. Ed is serving as the hilariously awesome model.
Sometimes… err… most of the time, our timing was a bit off, but hilarity still ensued…
After we got our settings and had figured out how to do things, we set the camera to timer and Alec jumped in with Ed, so that I could run with the Pixelstick, and get some images of the two of them together. Now, my photography friends who have experienced me trying to run with anything during a long exposure, knows my rate of fail, and is likely laughing at the idea of this… and for good reason.
Here is my first attempt, where the handle fell off and I thought I broke their Pixelstick. Note the amazing expressions…
My timing is amazing. Excellent timing skills I have…
I did manage to get a few though!
Alec gave a few more runs (clearly, Alec is much better at this than I!)
But I managed to get a few timed well at the end. I love these two together!
Clearly, we need a bit more practice, but it was fun, none the less!
