Baltimore AMP: Dance Party and Music and the Brain…
So this weekend was jam-packed with Baltimore AMP events. If you want to find out more about the Baltimore Art and Music Project click here.
First, on friday, we threw our first ever electronic dance party. Since it was our first one, the place wasn’t exactly packed, but we still had a good turn-out and a great time.
Jimmy, being the minimal techno guy that he is, couldn’t wait to hit the decks and start spinning…
You can totally see Jimmy’s reflection in the record on this one…
As always, we set up our canvas art piece for the kids to design and decorate…
The kids weren’t much into ‘dancing’ at the dance party, but the arts table had a lot of activity…
In all, I’d say that the event was a success. Never a dull moment at an AMP event!
The next day, the American Visionary Arts Museum held the Music and the Brain event. This was another free, kid and art oriented community event, and let me tell you, it was quite inspirational.
There were several different workshops including a noise party, an instrument making party and a CD making workshop. The Baltimore AMP came to the event to assist with the different workshops. We had a great time and met some super great kids.
We all made instruments out of trash and vegetables and gave onlookers a ‘noise concert’ with our new instruments.
Davontae made a great musical instrument out of trash…
Jimmy, my big kid, made an instrument at the party too…
Adults had some super-cool instruments as well… with some very interesting sounds…
The ‘boys’ couldn’t wait to perform in the concert with their musical instruments…
I wish I had been able to be there for the entire event. There were so many neat workshops and activities going on, I would have loved to have attended them all. I can’t wait until it rolls around again next year!
